GP524 - Spirituality and Metaphysics

When we first considered doing a show on the nonfiction book category of spirituality and metaphysics, we weren't sure how our audience would receive the topic. After all, we're not about preaching to anyone. The world of self-publishing is a big tent, with a broad welcome mat - and we want to keep it that way.

Our first impulse was to invite one or more authors whose books are popular and get their views on how people have responded to their work. But then we had the idea to invite someone who is mainly a reader, who has read widely and doesn't necessarily have a personal message to deliver.

Our featured guest is Denis Hutchison is co-proprietor with his wife Lois of Afterglow of Sedona (Arizona). We only found out as we were interviewing him that he used to have his own spiritually centered radio show in Phoenix. (Denis does have a deep, mellow voice that is comforting in itself.) #amwriting #selfpub #podcast #pm18

His observations and insights about spirituality and metaphysics may surprise you. And - considering that this episode has logged many more listeners than anything we've ever put out there - many of you have found value in his remarks.

Our host Gerald Everett Jones and his co-hosts sci-fi author Thomas Page and journalist Cheyenne Cockrell also enjoy a spirited, full and frank exchange of views among themselves.

GP50X1 - Writers Guild-Kenya Special Presentation

In this SPECIAL EPISODE, our host Gerald Everett Jones and his wife, actress and animal advocate Georja Umano, were invited as guest speakers to a meeting of the Writers Guild-Kenya. This release includes Gerald's remarks on how podcasting can fit into an overall strategy of career development, personal development, and social-media promotion for authors and editors.

Our Kenyan listeners should know that, although we promote the support services of GetPublishedRadio.com, the Mentors of the Writers Guild-Kenya also provide editorial and publishing services to the group's members.

In this episode, Gerald mentions zoetrope.com and withoutabox.com as resources for screenwriters and filmmakers. Although GetPublished! Radio is not affiliated with either site, we do recommend them enthusiastically. #amwriting #selfpub #podcast

With this podcast, we are extending our heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery to WGK founding member Gabriel Dinda, who is recovering well from a highway accident that prevented his attendance at the meeting.

GP509 - Podcasting and Challenges of Self Publishing

We're reissuing this episode of the GetPublished! Radio show to coincide with Gerald Everett Jones's presentation on July 13, 2018 to The Writers Guild - Kenya at the National Museums of Kenya in Nairobi: Should Authors and Editors Be Podcasters?

Gerald puts podcasting in the context of social media outreach for authors and editors. He focuses on how to engage your audience by avoiding the pitfall of Look at Me! and emphasizing Think About This! #amwriting #selfpub #podcast

This entertaining half-hour episode also has wicked banter with Gerald's fellow wizards, journalist Cheyenne Cockrell and sci-fi guru Thomas Page.

NOTE: Since this episode was recorded, the Pronoun.com service has been discontinued. Smashwords continues to be a major player in the EPUB space, and PublishDrive is growing fast.
