A recent white paper circulated by Vook publishing advanced the idea that 99 cents is the ideal price point for ebooks. And "free," they say, is best for short-term promotions.

A lot of author-publishers tried this approach, but apparently Amazon is not thrilled with the zero-dollars option.

It's a One-Man Show

No, I'm not talking about the story of my life. Last night Georja and I took in the opening night of Palomino, David Cale's storyteller performance about a New York gigolo. More than thoroughly in touch with his feminine side, Cale also plays the fellow's lady clients, as well as a gay book publisher who (wait for this surprise) rejects his memoirs. May 13 - June 6 at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City.

It's about casual intimacy and loneliness. If you're not sure how one is inevitably entwined with the other, you are one green boychik.

G&G Review 'Women with Dogs'

We've expanded our LA Splash critic's beat to include theater as well as opera. No sooner did we venture out than we ran smack up against another opportunity to debate sexual politics. Rick Pagano's new play running at the Lex Theater in Hollywood is a two-character rollercoaster ride, madly bumping along with the ups and downs of a new intimate relationship.
